Trying to find a good therapist can be overwhelming. Not only is it about the therapist but also what kind of therapy they practise, because not all therapy is equal.
Just like everything else in life, there is no one-size-fits-all therapy. If the first therapist or type of therapy you try isn't the right fit, don't give up, there is something for everyone. I have created this blog series to give people a rundown of some of the most popular therapies available to try. Use this master blog to access each of the individual blogs that gives deeper insight into each type of therapy by clicking on the links in the list below.
This is not an exhaustive list of therapies available and I might update the list over over time and create more individual blogs. If there is a therapy you have heard of that is not on this list, feel free to leave me a comment and I can add it. Maybe you will find the best one for you in this list.

As you can see, this is a HUGE list. This shows that it is unreasonable to say therapy doesn't work if you only try it with one therapist doing one type of therapy. If your therapy isn't working, then it very likely isn't the right one for you. CBT is thought of as the Gold Standard of therapy but guess what? It doesn't fit me. I do not like it. I do not gain the same benefits from it that other people do. It's not for me. Now art therapy on the other hand... that one is great for me. Yet art therapy is not for everyone either!
Take your time and go through the blogs and use the information found within them to help you pinpoint the right type of therapy for you. Then you can work your way through the therapists who practise each of these types of therapy until you also find the best therapeutic relationship for you as well. Therapy is not an exact science and it can take a lot of trial and error before you find the right fit.
Don't give up though because your mental health is worth it. You deserve to exist on this planet. You deserve to have a sense of overarching peace while on this planet. No, you cannot expect to be happy all the time, that is not feasible; however, you do deserve to have an overall positive experience during the short time you're here and one of these therapies might be what helps you achieve that.
